The episodes of the Japanese anime series Inuyasha are based on the first 36 volumes of the manga series of the same title by Rumiko Takahashi.[1] The series follows half-demonInuyasha and a high school girl Kagome Higurashi on a journey, alongside their friends, a young fox demon, Shippo; a lecherous monk, Miroku; a demon slayer, Sango; and a demon cat, Kilala, to obtain the fragments of the shattered Jewel of Four Souls, a powerful jewel that had been hidden inside Kagome's body, and keep the shards from being used for evil, including by the half-demon Naraku.

Produced by Sunrise, the series premiered in Japan on Animax on October 16, 2000 and ran for 167 episodes until its conclusion on September 13, 2004. It also aired on Animax's English-language networks in South Asia and East Asia and it was broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon Television. The English dub of the series aired on Cartoon Network's programming block, Adult Swim, from August 31, 2002 through October 27, 2006. In Canada, the series aired on YTV.
A second anime series, Inuyasha: The Final Act, premiered on October 3, 2009 and covers the final volumes of the manga series.[2][3][4]
- Synopsis InuYasha follows the exploits of a fifteen-year-old girl called Kagome, after she inadvertently falls down a well, and is transported five centuries back in time to feudal Japan. There, she encounters the half-demon boy InuYasha for which the series is named, and discovers that she is the modern-day reincarnation of a powerful.
- That is, until the day she falls into the shrine's well and into another time! In Japan's ancient past, Kagome joins the half demon Inuyasha on a quest to find the scattered shards of the Shikon Jewel, a gem so powerful that demons from across the land will do anything to get even a piece.
